These are instructions on how to embroider the Cutwork Applique Leaf Set.
You will need the base fabric (the fabric on which toy make the embroidery), pieces of fabric for the applique and water-soluble mesh.
Step One: Hoop the base fabric with watersoluble mesh. Tighten the hoop.
Step Two: Insert the hoop into the machine and start embroidering. The machine will embroider the outline of a leaf and stop.
Step Three: With a pair of sharp scissors, cut away the fabric inside the outline. Cut as close to the stitches as possible, but be careful not to cut through the stitches.
Note: After you cut away the fabric inside the outline, you'll have a nice fabric shape of a leaf. You can save it for other projects. For ideas, see our project Quilted Table Topper with Leaf Applique and Redwork Embroidery.
Step Four: Place a piece of colored fabric (your applique fabric) over the cut-out. Insert the hoop into the machine and start it. The machine will embroider the outline of the leaf and stop.
Step Five: Cut away the fabric around the second outline. Again, cut as close to the stitches as possible, but be carefull not to cut through the stitches.
Step Six: Return the hoop into the machine and finish the embroidery. Your stitch out will look like this:
Step Seven: Cut away the excess stabilizer and wash the remainder in a bowl of lukewarm water. Air dry and press with steam.
