These are instructions on how to embroider and assemble the FSL Crochet Forget-Me-Not Doily and Bowl.
The parts of the FSL Crochet Forget-Me-Not Set are embroidered in the same way as our crochet-style freestandng lace.
You will find detailed intructions on how to embroider crochet-style FSL in our Guide.
Most Importantly: ALWAYS make a test stitch-out of the design. This helps you to select the threads, needles, stabilizers and settings of your machine correctly.
Some points to remember from the General Guidelines:
Use Vilene water soluble stabilizer;
Use the same COTTON thread for the needle and bobbin.
DO NOT embroider several designs in one hoop.
The finished size of this doily is about 16 1/2" (42 1/2 cm) in diameter.
Step One: For the doily, you need to embroider the files "Doily_Forget-Me-Not" six times and "Doily_Forget-Me-Not2" three times.
Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer. Use the same cotton thread for both the needle and bobbin.
Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry.
Step Two: Press all parts with steam. Thread your sewing machine with the same thread that you used for the embroidery. Using the zig-zag stitch, stitch the six parts1 into pairs. You will get 3 pairs. Then stitch each part2 to a pair. You will get 3 segments.
Finally stitch together all three segments of the doily together.
The doily is ready!
The finished size of the bowl is about 6 1/4" (16 cm) in diameter at the bottom and about 11" (28cm) in diameter at the top. For the bowl's bottom, you will need a piece of non-fraying fabric.
Step Three: To make the bowl, embroider the files "Doily_Forget-Me-Not" four times.Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer. Use the same cotton thread for both the needle and bobbin.
Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry.
Step Four: Hoop your fabric with iron-on cut-away stabilizer and embroider the file "Motif forBowl".
Note: It's possible to use polyester craft felt to stabilize the fabric.
Step Five: Press all parts with steam. Thread your sewing machine with the same thread that you used for the embroidery. Using the zig-zag, stitch all crochet parts together.
Then, place them over the embroidered fabric and pin in place. Using short, but NOT dense zigzag, stitch the lace to the fabric.
With a pair of sharp scissors, cut away the excess fabric beyond the zigzag stitch. Return to the machine and using very dense zigzag, stitch the lace to the fabric.
