Welcome to our Nursery Wall Quilt tutorial, where we'll guide you through creating an adorable piece perfect for any nursery. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to piece together the quilt, add quilting for texture and dimension, and embellish it with charming bunny and dandelion embroidery using your embroidery machine. Let's get started on this delightful project that will add a touch of handmade warmth to any nursery decor.
We used the designs from the Cute Bunny Set and Dandelion Set. The finished size of the quilt is about 30 1/2" x 30 1/2".

You will need :

- about 1/2 yard of light cream fabric for the borders;
- scraps of green and blue fabrics for the border (batiks work great);
- light-weight cut-away embroidery stabilizer;
- fabric for the backing and binding;
- batting;
- quilter's ruler;
- rotary cutter;
- iron;
- #12 universal needle;
- quilting threads (the colors of the fabrics you use);
- #12-#14 quilting needle.

Use the remaining blue or green fabrics for the binding. |

Sew the blue and green 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles together along the short ends into 4 new strips in the following order: blue- green - blue- green - blue |
|
Sew 2 of the strips to the upper and lower edges of the central part.

|

|
|
Sew the cream 3 1/2" x 26 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the working piece. Sew the the cream 3 1/2" x 32 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the working piece. |
|
Embroidery |
Upload the files of the Cute Bunny Set and Dandelion Set into the embroidery machine. Select threads.
Mark the position of the embroidery on the central part. If you have a printer and embroidery software, print-outs of the designs can be helpful. If you do not, you can cut out rectangles of the same size as the designs and arrange them on the fabric to determine the position of the embroidery.
Working with one design at a time, stabilize the area, hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the design in the center.
|
Quilting and Finishing
|
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together.
We quilted in a free-motion style all over the working piece. Start from the central part, and echo-quilt the emboidery first. |
|
Press with heavy steam. Square the piece - all angles should be 90 degrees and opposite sides should be the same length. Finish the raw edges with the binding. |
|
Have fun! |
