You will need :
  • embroidery threads either polyester or rayon - red and pink;
  • 1 fat quarter each of white and black fabrics for the blocks;
  • small amount of pink fabric for the border;
  • red binding;
  • light-weight cut-away embroidery stabilizer;
  • fabric for the backing;
  • batting;
  • quilter's ruler;
  • rotary cutter;
  • iron;
  • #12 universal needle;
  • #12-#14 quilting needle.
Cutting:
Out of the white and black fabrics each, cut 2 squares measuring 8" x 8".

Out of pink fabric for the borders, cut
  • 2 strips measuring 2 1/2" x 15 1/2", and
  • 2 strips measuring 2 1/2" x 19 1/2".

Please note,that we always cut border strips at least 1" wider than the actual final borders. This is to allow extra fabric for squaring the work after you are done quilting.
Assembly:
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you make it, try to press seams to the darker fabric.
Sew a black square to the right edge of the white square.
Sew the remaining white square to the right edge of the remaining black square.
