Assembly:
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press every seam immediately after you make it. |
Blocks:
Sew 2 ice blue strips to the left and right edges of the white squares. |
Sew the yellow squares to the short edges of the remaining ice blue strips.
Sew the new strips to the upper and lower edges of the white squares. |
Sashing: |
Sew the orange squares and sky blue strips into 5 sashing strips. Each sashing strip consists of 4 orange squares and 3 sky blue strips. Starting and finishing with orange square, sew the strips in this order: orange - blue - orange - blue - orange - blue - orange. |
Sew the remaining sky blue strips and the blocks into rows: 4 strips and 3 blocks in a row. Start and finish with the strip. You will get 4 rows. |
Sew the sashing strips between the rows. |
Sew the 5 1/2" x 37 1/2" borders to the left and right edges of the working piece. Sew the 5 1/2" x 39 1/2" to the upper and lower edges of the working piece. |
Embroidery:
Select threads for the embroidery, we used dark blue.
Upload the files from the One-Color Baby Boy Calendar into your embroidery machine.
Stabilize the first white square. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider a design. Repeat fo the remaining white squares. Tip: It's a good idea to place your embroidery machine in the center of a table / work surface, so that the quilt does not hang and pull the carriage of the machine.

Quilting and Finishing
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together.
A baby quilt should be soft, so do not quilt densely. We quilted mostly in the ditch. |
Press with heavy steam. Square the piece. |
Have fun! |
