Cute little wall quilt or small table topper for the upcoming Fall season.
We used the design of the Autumn Wheel for a mega hoop (6" x 10"). The designs is also available for a large hoop (5" x 7") and commercial hoop (8" x 12"). For this quilt. you can use the design for the 5" x 7" hoop, however, for a larger design you'll have to change the measurements.
The finished size of the quilt is about 15" x 15". |

You will need :
- embroidery threads, either polyester or rayon, please follow our color card,
- 1 fat quarter of light colored fabric for the central part,
- about 1/4 yard of brown fabric for the borders,
- some orange fabric for the binding, or you can use the ready binding of any "autumn" color,
- 1 fat quarter of leaf pattened fabric for the borders,
- light-weight cut-away embroidery stabilizer,
- fabric for the backing,
- batting,
- quilter's ruler,
- rotary cutter,
- iron,
- #12 universal needle,
- #12-#14 quilting needle,
- quilting threads of matching colors.

Cutting:
|
Out of the fabric for the central part, cut
- a square measuring 7 1/2" x 7 1/2",
- 2 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 8 1/2",
- 2 strips, measuring 1 1/2" x 10 1/2".
Out of brown fabric, cut
- 2 strips measuring 1" x 7 1/2",
- 2 strips measuring 1" x 8 1/2",
- 2 strips measuring 1" x 10 1/2",
- 2 strips measuring 1" x 1" x 11 1/2",
- 4 squares measuring 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".
Out of leaf patterned fabric, cut 4 strips measuring 2 1/2" x 11 1/2".
Cut the orange fabric into binding strips. |

Assembly:
|
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press every seam immediately after you make it. |
Sew the brown 1" x 7 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the central part . Sew the brown 1" x 8 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the central part .

Sew the light-colored 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the working piece. Sew the light-colored 1 1/2" x 10 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the central part. |

Sew the brown 1" x 10 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the working piece. Sew the brown 1" x 11 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the working piece. |
|
Sew the brown squares to the ends of the 2 patterned 2 1/2" x 11 1/2 strips.

Sew the patterned 2 1/2" x 11 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the working piece. Sew the strips with brown squares to the upper and lower edges of the working piece. |

Embroidery:
|
Mark the position of the embroidery on the central part. Stabilize the area. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the design.
|
|
Quilting and Finishing
|
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together.
We quilted in a free-motion style all over the quilt. |
Press with heavy steam. Square the quilt. Finish the raw edges with the binding. |
