Designs from the Snowflake Set. The finished size of the tablerunner is about 14" x 36".

You will need :
- embroidery threads either polyester or rayon,
- about 1/2 yard of solid royal blue fabric for the central part of the blocks
- about 1/4 yard or fat quarter of white fabric,
- about 1/2 yard of blue patterned fabric (we used it for the blocks and binding),
- light-weight cut-away embroidery stabilizer,
- fabric for the backing,
- batting,
- quilter's ruler,
- rotary cutter,
- iron,
- #12 universal needle,
- #12-#14 quilting needle

Cutting:
|
Out of the solid royal blue fabric, cut 3 squares each measuring 8 1/2" x 8 1/2". Out of whitel fabric, cut 20 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 8 1/2", 4 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 12 1/2". Out of patterned blue fabric, cut 5 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" . Use the remaining patterned blue fabric for the binding.

Assembly:
|
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you make it. |
Sew 2 white and 1 blue 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" strips along the long edges in each in the following order: white - blue - white. You will get 10 white-and-blue strips.

Sew 6 of them to the left and right edges of the blue squares.
|
|
Sew the 2 white and 1 blue 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips along the long edges in the folloring order: white - blue - white. Suncut this strip into 8 white-blue strips each 1 1/2" wide.
|
|
Sew 2 blue and 1 white 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips along the long edges in the folloring order: blue - white - blue. Suncut this strip into 8 blue-white strips each 1 1/2" wide. Repeat with the remaining 2 blue and 1 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" strips. You will have 16 blue-white strips.

Sew 1 white-blue and 2 blue-white strips into a square: blue-white - white-blue - blue-white. Repeat with all strips to get 8 squares.

Sew the squares to the ends of the white-blue strips.
|
|
Sew the strips to the upper and bottom edges of 2 squares.
|
|
Sew the remaining square between these 2 squares.
|
|
Embroidery:
|
Mark the centers of the blue squares. Stabilize the squares. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the designs in the centers of the blue sqaures.
|
|
Quilting and Finishing
|
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together. We quilted in a free-motion style all over the quilt. Press with heavy steam. Square the quilt. Finish the raw edges with the binding.
