Cutting:
Out of the main fabric, cut
- a piece 12 1/2" wide and the length of the width of the fabric (about 38" - 40"),
- 3 strips each 3/4" wide and the length of the width of the fabric, and
- a strip 6" wide and the length of the width of the fabric.
Out of yellow fabric, cut 1 strip 1" wide and the length of the width of the fabric
Out of 2 brown fabrics each, cut 2 strips 1" wide and the length of the width of the fabric.
Use one of the remaining brown fabrics for the binding.

Assembly:
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you make it. |
Fold the 12 1/2" wide strip widthwise in half and place the ruler diagonally as shown on the picture below.

Unfold. You'll get 3 pieces:
Sew together the yellow 1" wide strip, cream 3/4" wide strip, light brown 1" wide strip, cream 3/4" wide strip and dark brown 1" wide strip.
Pin, then sew the new multi-colored strip between 2 pieces of the main part. Trim the ends.
Sew the remaining length of the multi-colored strip between another 2 cuts. Trim the ends.
Sew the cream 3/4" strip between the remaining 2 brown strips.
Sew the cream 6" wide strip and the new multicolored strip together.
Sew the new part to the main part of the tablerunner. Please note that the length of the parts is slightly different. This is fine, we will trim everything to size later.
Embroidery:
Mark the position of the embroidery on the central part. If you have a printer and embroidery software, print-outs of the designs can be helpful. If you do not, you can cut out rectangles of the same size as the designs and arrange them on the fabric to determine the position of the embroidery.
Stabilize the chosen area. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the designs one by one. We embroidered the long designs along the multi-colored strips and the circles on the long border.

Quilting and Finishing
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together.
We quilted in a free-motion style all over the quilt. |
Press with heavy steam. Square the quilt. Finish the raw edges with the binding. |
Have fun! |
