Lines and Circles Quilted Table Runner with Machine Embroidery
This quilted tablerunner features modern styling and embroidery designs from the Lines and Circles Border Set. The designs are for the large hoop (5" x 7").

The finished size of the tablerunner is about 18" x 38".
Finished light cream tablerunner with geometric embroidery.

You will need :
  • embroidery threads either polyester or rayon - you can either follow our color card or choose colors to your taste,
  • for the main fabric, about 3/4 yard of light-colored fabric (light cream, light beige, pale yellow, etc.)
  • small amount of fabric for contrast lines and binding, (we used yellow and 2 shades of brown to match the colors of the embroidery, if you want a different color scheme, choose fabrics matching your embroidery threads)
  • medium-weight cut-away embroidery stabilizer,
  • fabric for the backing,
  • batting,
  • quilter's ruler,
  • rotary cutter,
  • iron,
  • #12 universal needle,
  • #12-#14 quilting needle
Cutting:
Out of the main fabric, cut
  • a piece 12 1/2" wide and the length of the width of the fabric (about 38" - 40"),
  • 3 strips each 3/4" wide and the length of the width of the fabric, and
  • a strip 6" wide and the length of the width of the fabric.
Out of yellow fabric, cut 1 strip 1" wide and the length of the width of the fabric

Out of 2 brown fabrics each, cut 2 strips 1" wide and the length of the width of the fabric.

Use one of the remaining brown fabrics for the binding.

Assembly:
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you make it.
Fold the 12 1/2" wide strip widthwise in half and place the ruler diagonally as shown on the picture below.

Sew the new part to the main part of the tablerunner. Please note that the length of the parts is slightly different. This is fine, we will trim everything to size later.

Embroidery:
Mark the position of the embroidery on the central part. If you have a printer and embroidery software, print-outs of the designs can be helpful. If you do not, you can cut out rectangles of the same size as the designs and arrange them on the fabric to determine the position of the embroidery.

Stabilize the chosen area. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the designs one by one.
We embroidered the long designs along the multi-colored strips and the circles on the long border.

Quilting and Finishing
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.

Pin all layers together.

We quilted in a free-motion style all over the quilt.
