Topstitch the handles to the panels, seam allowance about 1/4".

Shaping the Bottom:
To make box corners, separate the front and back sides at the corners. Center the seam on the side with the bottom seam. |
Measure 1" along the seam from the corner. |
Draw a line perpendicular to the seam across the corner and machine-stitch it several times.
Repeat for the other corner. |
Fold the upper edge back along the pressed line. Tuck the handles inside, out of the way and topstitch 1/4" along the upper edge.
Turn the bag right side out.
Attach the magnetic closure to the folded upper edge from the inside, between the handles and as close to the upper edge as possible. |
Lining:
Stabilize the lining panels with iron-on sewing interfacing.
Sew both lining panels along the bottom, seam allowance 1/2". Open and press the seam. Topstitch 1/4" on each side.
To make pockets, fold the pocket piece (8" x 12") widthwise, face inwards. Stitch along 2 sides. Seam allowance for the pocket is 1/4".
Turn right side out. Press. Tuck the raw edges 1/2" inside, press and topstitch.
Repeat for the second pocket.
Position the pocket on one of the lining panels, about 3" from the upper edge and an equal distance from the sides. Pin.
Topstitch along the side and bottom edges in place.
Fold the lining, face inwards. Align the upper and side edges. Stitch the sides, seam allowance just under 1/2".
Make box corners in the same way as described for the outer bag.
Finishing:
Insert the lining into the bag. Align the side edges. Lift the folded upper edge and tuck the lining under it up to the stitches.
