Fall Tree Wall Quilt
Here's a small wall quilt to herald the upcoming Fall season. We used the Autumn Tree design for a commercial hoop (8" x 12").

The finished size of the quilt is about 18" x 20".

You will need :
  • embroidery threads according to our color card,
  • about 1/2 yard of neutral-colored fabric for the background,
  • scraps of colored fabrics for the first border and corner blocks in dark autumn colors (we used dark burgundy for the border, and brown and burnt orange scraps for the corner blocks),
  • fabric of matching color for the binding,
  • light-weight cut-away embroidery stabilizer,
  • fabric for the backing,
  • batting,
  • quilter's ruler,
  • rotary cutter,
  • iron,
  • #12 universal needle,

Out of fabric for the background, cut:

Out of burgundy fabric, cut
  • 2 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 12 1/2" and

  • 8 squares measuring 1 3/4" x 1 3/4".

Assembly:
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press every seam immediately after you make it.
Maple Leaf Block:
For this block we need 16 half-triangle squares. Sew them from the 1 3/4" neutral and multi-colored squares.

Place each neutral square face-to-face with a multi-colored one. You'll have 8 pairs.
