This set of one-block quilts provides you with seasonal decorations all year round! We used the designs from the Four Seasons Tree Set.
The finished size of each one-block quilt is about 12" x 12". You can arrange them in any way you like. We went for a whimsical arrangement using real tree branches.
For this composition we also used the designs from the Tatting Snowflake Set.
For the Spring-themed composition we used the flowers from the 3D Freestanding Organza Flower Set.
For the Summer-themed composition, we used an artificial vine.
For the Autumn-themed composition we used the Freestanding Battenberg Lace Leaf and Freestanding Battenberg Lace Maple Leaf.
The construction of the blocks is very simple.

Cutting:
Out of the fabric for the central part, cut a square measuring 7 1/2" x 7 1/2".
Out of solid-colored fabric for the first border cut
- 2 strips measuring 1 1/4" x 7 1/2",
- 2 strips measuring 1 1/4" x 9"
Out of fabric for the second border, cut
- 2 strips measuring 2" x 9" and
- 2 strips measuring 2" x 12 1/2".
Assembly:
Note: seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you make it. |
Sew the 1 1/4" x 7 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the central part.
Sew the 1 1/4" x 9" strips to the left and right edges of the central part.
Sew the 2" x 9" strips to the upper and lower edges of the working piece. Sew the 2" x 12 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the working piece.
Embroidery:
Upload a design into the machine. Select threads. Mark the position of the embroidery on the central part of the block. Stabilize the area. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the design.
Quilting and Finishing
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together. We quilted in a free-motion style all over the blocks. |
Press with heavy steam. Square the quilt. Finish the raw edges with the binding. |
Making the Compositions:
Fix the bough or rod to the wall or ceiling.
Cut spool netting into 3 sections of different length.
Attach the netting ribbons to the bough. You can use either pins or baste the netting using threads of matching colors.
Attach the blocks to the netting, again using either pins or basting.
Add additional embellishments: snowflakes, leaves, flowers, vines, etc.
Have fun! |
