This super easy table runner looks great thanks to the embroidery designs from the Butterfly Set for the small (4" x 4") and large (5" x 7") hoops.
The finished size is about 17 1/2" x 28".

You will need :
- embroidery threads, either polyester or rayon; the choice of colors is up to you; we recommend picking colors to match the border fabric,
- a piece of light-colored fabric measuring 10 1/2" x 21 1/2", for the central part,
- 1/2 yard of bright floral patterned fabric, or multi-colored batik, for the borders,
- batting,
- fabric for backing and binding,
- quilter's ruler,
- rotary cutter,
- iron.
Cutting:
Out of the fabric for the central part, cut out a piece measuring 10 1/2" x 21 1/2". Out of fabric for the borders, cut
- 2 strips measuring 4 1/2" x 21 1/2" and
- 2 strips measuring 4 1/2" x 18 1/2".
Assembly:
NOTE: the seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you made it. |
Sew the long border strips to the long sides of the central part.
Sew the short border strips to the short sides of the central part.
Embroidery:
Make print-outs of the designs from the Butterfly Set. Arrage them on the central part of the table runner.
When you like the composition, embroider the designs one by one. |
Quilting and Finishing: |
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together. We quilted in a free-motion style all over the table runner. |
Press with heavy steam. Square the quilt. Finish the raw edges with the binding. |
Have fun!
