Christmas Tree Table Runner or Wall Hanging
For this Christmas themed wall hanging or table runner, we used the designs from the Christmas Tree Applique Set. We used the designs for a large, 5" x 7" hoop.

The finished size of the table runner is about 16 1/2" x 41 1/2".
Finished wall hamging or tablerunner.

You will need :
  • embroidery threads according to the color cards of the designs,
  • medium-weight cut-away stabilizer,
  • 1 fat quarter of light-colored cotton fabric for the blocks with embroidery,
  • small amount of 4 different patterned fabrics for the blocks (note: you can use the same fabric which you use for the borders),
  • green fabric for the applique,
  • about 1/2 yard of patterned Christmas-themed fabric in red and green colors for the borders,
  • about 1/2 yard of red fabric for the blocks;

Out of fabric for the embroidery, cut 4 rectangles measuring 6 1/2" x 8 1/2".

Out of the patterned fabrics each, cut 3 squares measuring 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". You'll have 12 squares in all.

Sew the patterned 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" squares and red 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" strips together into strips in the following order: square - strip - square - strip - square. Use the squares of the same fabric in each strip. You'll get 4 strips.

Quilting and Finishing:
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.

Pin all three layers together with 1" pins and start quilting. We quilted all over the working piece in a free motion style using quilting threads of matching colors.
