You will need :

  • embroidery threads according to the color card of the designs, (in this case, you can pick your own colors that best suit your project)
  • light-weight cut-away stabilizer,
  • 1 1/2 yard of white or light cream quilting cotton fabric,
  • 1 fat quarter each of 7 different colors. We used red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, blue and purple batiks (you can pick any colors you like),
  • quilting threads of matching colors,
  • batting and backing,
  • binding,
  • rotary cutter,
  • quilter's ruler,

5 squares measuring 8" x 8",

Embroidery:

Please note that the machine shoud be positioned in the center of the table so the quilt lies on the table. If the quilt is unsupported, the fabric will pull the carriage of the machine and displace stitches.

Stabilize the center of the white blocks/squares with light-weight cut-away stabilizer. Hoop it tightly.

Select threads by the JPG color card included with the designs (not by the screen of your machine!). In this case, you can pick colors that best match your fabric

Upload the embroidery files from the Cute Unicorn Set into the machine and embroider them one by one.

After the embroidery is done, press the stitch-outs.

Quilting and Finishing:

Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.

Pin all layers together with 1" pins and start quilting. We quilted with a free motion stippling pattern all over the quilt.

After the quilting is finished, press the work with heavy steam and square the work -- all corners should be 90 degrees and opposite sides should be of the same length.

Finish the raw edges with the binding.
