Evergreen Christmas Bells Table Runner

This charming table runner is perfect for a smaller end table or coffee table. The embroidery design used in this project is the Evergreen Christmas Bells for the mega hoop. You can also use this design in other sizes.

The finished size is 12" x 27 1/2".

You will need

  • embroidery thread (either polyester or rayon)
  • medium-weight cut-away stabilizer,
  • light-weight iron-on stabilizer or sewing interfacing,
  • light-colored cotton fabric for the central part with embroidery (a piece of about 12" x 21",
  • fabric for the border,
  • fabric for the backing (we used the same fabric for the border and for the backing, about 1 yard)
  • batting,
  • quilting threads to match the fabrics,
  • graphic pencil, scissors and fabric glue (optional).

Emboridery

Stabilize the central part of the light-colored piece of fabric with medium-weight cut-away stabilizer for embroidery. Print out the color card. Select embroidery threads according to the color card. Upload the design into the machine and embroider it.

Sewing the Quilt / Table Topper

Step One: Download the file with the template. To open and print the template, which is a PDF file, you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program. The program is free to download and install.

Step Two: Print out the template, cut it out and connect the parts for the template. You can use tape for this, or trace the parts of the template onto a large sheet of cardstock and cut it out again.

Step Three: Adhere the fabric for the top to the iron-on cut-away stabilizer or interfacing.

Lay the piece out with the stabilizer facing up. Position your template over the stabilizer and trace the template with a pencil.
