These greeting cards are very easy to make. At the same time, the embroidery and the cinnamon fragrance make them real keepsakes that will be treasured by your giftees.
The cards feature the designs from the Poinsettia Quilt Block Set for a large hoop (130mm x 180 mm /5" x 7"). You can also use similar designs from the Redwork Poinsettia Set which are quicker to embroider and provide a more elegant and refined look
You will need red, letter-size cardstock, narrow golden ribbon, cinnamon sticks (to act as both a decoration and a fragrance), scissors with zig-zag blades and a glue gun.
For embroidery you will need white craft polyester felt and embroidery threads.
Chart the white polyester craft felt into 5" x 5" squares. Do not cut them out. Hoop so that the center of a square is in the center of the hoop and embroider the first design in the center of the square. Re-hoop and embroider the second design in the second square, etc.
When you are finished, cut out the squares using the zig-zag edged scissors. Try to cut close to the embroidery, but be very careful not to cut through the actual stitching.
Card Assembly:
Fold the cardstock sheets in half widthwise. Press the crease with something heavy.
Place several drops of silicone glue on the back of the embroidery. Press it onto the right half of the cardstock, closer to the lower edge.
Tie a bow around a cinnamon stick. Glue the cinnamon to the card above the embroidery using the hot glue gun. This will give your cards a nice cinnamon smell that will last for a long time.
Fold the card and that's it. It's ready!
