This simple yet charming table set features the Country Applique designs for a mega hoop. It can add a cozy touch to your living room, kitchen or den.
The finished size of the table runner is about 15 1/2" x 23" and the coasters are about 10" x 10". This size of coaster is good for setting down a bowl or plate. If you use smaller designs from the set, you can make smaller coasters.
For the project, we used
Graph your white fabric into eight 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" squares and 2 rectangles measuring 4" x 12 1/2". Do not cut them out yet.
Stabilize each square with your favorite light-weight cut-away stabilizer.
Make the applique as described in the instructions.
On four squares we embroidered the 3-flower applique design. On the remaining four squares we embroidered the one-flower applique design.
On the 4" x 12 1/2", rectangles we embroidered the border design.
Cut out 8 squares with embroidery. Each square measures 6 1/2" x 6 1/2".
Cut out 2 rectangles, each measures 4" x 12 1/2".
Out of the green fabric, cut
Cut the backing and batting into 17" x 25" piece for the table runner and 12" x 12" squares for the coasters.
Position the four squares with the 3-flower embroidery as shown on the picture.
Sew the squares into two rows.
Now sew the rows together. This forms the central part of the table topper.
Sew the 4" x 12 1/2" embroidered strips to the upper and lower edges of the central part.
Sew the green 2 1/2" x 20" strips to the left and right edges of the working piece.
Sew the green 2 1/2" x 17" strips to the upper and lower edges of the working piece.
Sew the green 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the one-flower squares.
Sew the yellow 2 1/2" x 10 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the same squares.
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your panels over it.
Pin all three layers together with 1" pins. Quilt around the applique edges in a free-motion style.
After the quilting is finished, press the work with heavy steam and trim the work - the opposite sides should be straight and of the same length. Finish the raw edges with binding.
