This small and very handsome quilt features the designs from the Trapunto Quilting Block Set for large (5" x 7") hoop.
The finished size of the quilt is about 15 1/2" x 21 1/2".
For the project you will need:
First make the embroidery of the trapunto designs as described in the instructions.
Trim the embroidered pieces to 6" x 6" squares.
Out of the patterned fabric, cut
four strips measuring 2" x 6"
two strips measuring 2" x 15 1/2"
three strips measuring 2" x 19 1/2".
Using the 2" x 6" strips and the embroidered squares, assemble 2 strips:
square - strip - square - strip - square
Stitch one of the 2" x 19 1/2" strips between the two strips.
Stitch the remaining 2" x 19 1/2" strips to the left and right edges of the quilt.
Stitch the 2" x 15 1/2" strips to the upper and lower edges of the quilt.
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all three layers together with 1" pins. Start quilting. Quilt in the ditch around the squares. Then quilt the sashing and the broders.
After the quilting is finished, press the work from the back side with heavy steam and square the work -- all corners should be 90 degrees and opposite sides should be of the same length.
Finish the raw edges with the binding.
Attach a sleeve, if you want to use the quilt as a wall hanging.
