These are instructions on how to embroider the Hawaiian Motifs Applique Set. The set contains 6 designs available in 3 sizes: 5" x 5 (larger hoop), 6" x 6"(mega hoop) and
8" x 8" (commercial hoop).
You will need the base fabric, fabric for the applique, and cotton embroidery threads. If you cannot find embroidery cotton thread, use cotton machine quilting threads.
Step One: Hoop the base fabric stabilized with a stabilizer needed for your project. We embroidered the applique on a quilt, so we used light-weight iron-on cut-away stabilizer.
Upload the first file into your machine. Start embroidering. The machine will embroider the outline of the design and stop.
Step Two: Cover the outline with fabric and start the machine. The machine will embroider the outline of the design again and stop.
Step Three: Take the hoop from the machine. With a pair of sharp scissors cut away the fabric around the shape as close to the stitches as possilbe.
Step Four: Change the upper thread for a cotton one. The applique has a zig-zag finish. So a cotton thread will look better. Return the hoop to the machine and finish embroidering.
For the simple quilt on the above photo we used the designs for the commercial hoop.
For the tablerunner on the photo below we used the designs for a large hoop. You can find instructions on how to make this table runner on the project page.
