Some points to remember from the General Guidelines:
Use Vilene water soluble stabilizer;
Use the same thread for the upper and bobbin to get two-sided embroidery.
DO NOT embroider several designs in one hoop.
You will need Vilene water soluble stabilizer, embroidery threads and a 19" x 29" piece of linen fabric. The finished size of the table runner is about 16 12/" x 27 1/2" .
Step One: Embroider:
Part 1 - once
Part 2 - once
Part 3 - twice
Part 4 - twice
Part 5 - twice
Part 6 - twice
Part 7 - twice.
Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer. To get neat embroidery, use thread of the same color for both the needle and bobbin. Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry.
Step Two: Press all parts with steam. On your working table, lay out the edge designs on your fabric. Either baste or pin the patterns in place.
Step Three: Thread a needle with the same thread that you used for the embroidery and, using short but NOT dense zigzag, stitch along the inner edge of the lace to secure the parts in place.
Step Four: Using a sharp pair of scissors, cut away the excess fabric from under the lace. Return to your machine and using a very dense zigzag, of the same width as the lace edge, stitch along the edge of the fabric. Continue to use the same thread with which you embroidered the designs.
Step Five: Now place the FSL egg parts at the ends of the table runner, secure with pins.
Using short but NOT dense zigzag, stitch along the outline of the eggs to secure them in place.
With a sharp pair of scissors, cut away the excess fabric from under the lace.
Return to your machine and using a very dense zigzag, of the same width as the lace edge, stitch along the edge of the fabric. Continue to use the same thread with which you embroidered the designs.
