"My daughter and I wanted her wedding cake to be beautiful, elegant, taste good and incorporate her Celtic theme. Her colors were charcoal grey for the girls, black tuxes, white linens, flowers of green with accents of fuschia. We wanted the cake to be unique. She was very specific in wanting square cake layers set in an offset pattern. As an embroiderer, I made the suggestion she use free standing lace on her cake in a Celtic pattern. Advanced Embroidery's Design 16590 was chosen. Then on to find the designers that would incorporate the lace and fresh flowers for her "masterpiece." Lace samples using poly thread that looks like cotton were stitched using my Singer XL 5000 and tested against butter creme icing. The lace "belt" sections were placed on the cake corners and small diamond lace motifs would be centered between. The small diamonds were stitched on tulle that matched the icing and were carefully trimmed close to the stitching. (This design was from another designer.) Fresh flowers of stock, orchids, spider mums and bells of Ireland cascaded over the cake. We were very pleased that our plan came together and she has her "keepsake lace" belt from her cake! Hope you like our cake too!"
