Cutwork designs can be embroidered as applique. For this project we chose two cutwork designs that have oval outlines - the Three Roses Medallion Cutwork Lace and Rose Lace III.
For the project, you will need a sweat-shirt, see-through light-weight iron-on mesh stabilizer, a piece of fabric for the applique and embroidery threads to match the color of the sweat-shirt.
Mark the position of the embroidery on the sweat-shirt. Stabilize the shirt fabric with the iron-on mesh. Cover with the applique fabric. Hoop. There will be 3 layers in the hoop: applique fabric, sweat-shirt fabric and iron-on mesh stabilizer.
Start embroidering the design. The machine will embroider the outline of the design and stop.
With a pair of sharp scissors cut away the fabric outside the oval as shown on the picture below.
Return the hoop to the machine and finish the embroidery.
Cut away the excess stabilizer. Your new sweat-shirt is ready. For this sweat-shirt we used the Rose Lace III design.
The pink sweater is done in the same way.
For this sweater we used the Three Roses Medallion Cutwork Lace design.
