The Classic Jacket and Skirt Outfit Set for 16-in Fashion Dolls contains files to make 3 different skirts, a jacket, a sleeveless summer blouse, a dress and panties. By changing the color and material of the threads, you can get unlimitless number of outfits.
We tried the following thread combinations for the outfits:
40-weight embroidery polyester both in the needle and the bobbin;
50-weight cotton in the needle and pre-wound bobbins for embroidery;
30-weight rayon in the needle and pre-wound bobbins for embroidery;
and 40-weight rayon in the needle and cotton bobbin thread.
All combinations work well and give different textures to the finished product - going approximately from lighter and finer to heavier and densier. We'll describe each combination in more detail below.
Step One: To make the jacket, embroider the files "jacketBack" and "jacketFront" once each, and the "jacketSleeve" file twice.
Step Two: When assembling, stitch the shoulders together first. You can do it either on your sewing machine, or by hand. Stitch very close to the edges, with a seam allowance of 1/32".
Step Three: Attach the sleeves. Again, sew very close to the edges.
Step Four: Now fold the working piece in half, face inwards, down the center of the sleeves and zigzag over the edge to connect the sleeves and the front and the back.
Step Five: Turn the jacket inside out. Attach buttons. We used seed pearls and glass beads for the purpose.
There are 4 files for the skirts.
For the straight mini skirt use the file "SkirtMini".
For the knee-long straight skirt, use the file "Skirt2".
For the half-circle skirt, use file "Skirt3".
Whichever you choose, embroider it twice.
The "belt" file fits all skirts. Embroider it once.
To make a summer dress, embroider the files "jacketFront" and "jacketBack" once each, and the file "Skirt3" three times.
When assembling, stitch the shoulders of the "jacket" together first, then join the sides.
Stitch the three skirt pieces together. Collect the upper edge on a thread to form slight ruffles.
Attach the skirt to the upper part of the dress.
