The FSL Battenberg Season's Lace Panels is a set of 4 lace designs that can be used to make very attractive, keepsake gift bags, glasscases and cards with lace covers.
Step One: Embroider the designs in accordance with the instructions you received along with the embroidery files.
Rinse away the stabilizer, spread the motifs evenly on a towel and leave to air dry. Press with steam.
Step Two: To make a lace gift bag or a glasscase you will need two pieces of fabric of about 6"x 8". Choose any two panels. Place the lace panels over the fabric pieces.
Step Three: Using short but not very dense zig-zag, join lace and fabric along the edges of the rectangle. Use a bobbin thread that matches the color of your fabric; and a needle thread that matches the color of your lace.
Step Four: With a pair of sharp scissors, trim the excess fabric as close to the stitches as possible.
Step Five: Place the panels wrong side to wrong side. Pin. Join the panels using straight stitch along the left, lower and right edges. Leave the upper edge open.
To make a greeting card, you will need cardstock or card stacks.
Place a lace motif on a piece of cardstock. With a pencil, trace the outline of the lace.
Either with a craft knife or a pair of sharp scissors, cut the shape out. Make a tab on the left side. Fold the tab onto the card.
Place a thin layer of glue over the tab.
Press the edge of the lace motif over the glue.
When the glue is dry, fold the lace onto the cardstock. The card is ready! You can decorate them with ribbon or hot-fix crystals. If you used dark card-stock, like we did, you can write the holiday wishes in gold or silver pen.
We hope that you liked our idea and will come up with many of your own.
