Here is an idea on how to refresh an old but very much loved dress. We used the Silver Celtic design for this purpose. We used the design for a Commercial size hoop, however, it's also available for large (5" x 7") and mega (6" x 9" and 6" x 10") hoops.
The design can be embroidered in any color you'd like, so feel free to choose thread of a color appropriate for your dress.
Besides your embroidery machine and embroidery thread you will need :
Note: Please always make a test stitch-out of any design before embroidering it on your outfit.
Emboridery
Step One: Print out a paper template of the design. If you do not have this possibility, make an approximate template yourself:. On a piece of paper measure the size of the design and cut out the shape.
Determine where on the dress you want the embroidery. With a marker and ruler draw the central axis.
Step Two: Stabilize the back of the fabric. Using your hoop's plastic template, hoop the dress, aligning the vertical line on the dress with the vertical axis on the hoop's plastic template.
Step Three: Make the embroidery.
Step Four: Cut away the excess stabilizer and press if needed.
Step Five: If you'd like, you can further decorate the embroidery with rhinestones.
These are the results:
Happy embroidering!
