Cutwork Lace Olives II

The Cutwork Lace Olives II design can be embroidered both as an insert and as a freestanding ornament. Here are the instructions for both versions.

You will need fabric, water soluble fabric-like stabilizer (such as Fabri-Solvy by Sulky, Avalon Plus by Madeira, Wash-Away, Aqua Magic) and embroidery polyester threads.

Please note, we DO NOT recommend to use rayon embroidery threads with water soluble mesh because its chemicals ruin the thread.

Cutwork Insert

Step One: Hoop the fabric with water soluble mesh. Start the machine from the second color. It will embroider the outline of the oval and olives inside the oval and stop.

Step Two: Take the hoop from the machine. With a pair of sharp scissors cut away the fabric in the areas shown on the picture - inside the oval and around the olive shapes. Take care not to cut through the stabilizer.
