The Cutwork Fruit Doilies designs are available in three sizes: for large hoops (5" x 7"),
mega hoops (6" and over) and commercial hoops (8" and over).
You will need cotton, linen, or cotton/linen blend fabric, water soluble mesh and embroidery polyester threads.
We recommend to use embroidery polyester threads, because embroidery rayon threads have a tendency to react with the chemicals in the watersoluble mesh and make the work look untidy.
All 3 doilies are embroidered in the same way.
Step One: Hoop 2 layers of water soluble mesh. Start the machine. It will embroider the outline of the design and stop.
Step Two: Place a piece of fabric over the mesh to cover the outline. You can pin the fabric to the mesh outside the embroidery area. Start the machine. It will embroider the outline of the design.
Step Three: Take the hoop from the machine. With a pair of sharp scissors cut away the fabric around the design and in the areas shown on the picture. Take care not to cut through the stabilizer and stitches.
Step Four: Return the hoop to the machine and finish embroidering.
Step Five: Wash away the stabilizer and neatly spread on a flat surface and leave to air dry. Press.
The finished sizes of the doilies are about 5" x 5" for a large hoop, about 6" x 6" for a mega hoop, and about 8" x 8" for a commercial hoop.
