The designs from our Hardanger Ornament FSL Set can embroidered as regular FSL, you can read about this in our General Guidelines.
To embroider this set we used 60-weight 100% cotton embroidery threads; both emroidery rayon and polyester also give good results.
Some points to remember from the General Guidelines:
Use Vilene water soluble stabilizer;
Use the same thread for the upper and bobbin to get two-sided embroidery.
DO NOT embroider several designs in one hoop.
The FSL designs can be then stitched onto fabric.
Another method of combining the designs from this Hardanger set with fabric is described in the Hardanger FSL Set Guide.
The designs from this set can be used in different way. The very first idea which comes into mind is bookmarks. Add tassels and you'll have a set of beautiful bookmarks. They will be a welcome holiday gift.
The designs from the set can be used as tree ornaments and to make many household items - table runners, doilies, coasters, curtains, etc. Here are some pictures of what we made with the designs.
Placed as a garland on a satin ribbon, these FSL parts make an attaractive wall decoration.
To make this doily we embroidered the star design twelve times and stitched them onto the red linen to get a Christmas feel. If you choose fabric in pastel colors you will get more Spring-y results.
To get this table runner, we just connected two doilies together. You can get another style of table runer if you connect only the corner stars of the doilies:
To make this candle shade we embroidered the design of an angel four times and hand stitched the edges of the wings together.
For this candle shade we embroidered the design of the tree four times and again hand-stitched the edges together.
