Some points to remember from the General Guidelines:
Use Vilene water soluble stabilizer;
Use the same thread for the upper and bobbin to get two-sided embroidery.
DO NOT embroider several designs in one hoop.
These are the instructions on how to assemble the Butterfly Organza Bowl and Doily Set from our catalog. Along with the embroidery files, you will get the color card, which will help you select the threads and also sort out the many parts of the design.
Step One: To make the bowl, you'll have to embroider five bowl panels and the pentagon as the bottom. On the picture, the bowl panel is the one in the first row on the left. The pentagon is directly under the bowl panel, in the second row on the left.
Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer and one layer of organza; use the same thread for both the needle and bobbin to get 2-sided embroidery. You either sandwich the organza between the layers of stabilizer or place it over or under the stabilizer, just make sure that all layers are evenly hooped.
Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry.
We used white organza and pink thread. You can use any color combination you like.
Step Two: Press all parts with steam. If you want to decorate the bowl with hot fix crystals, do it now. Place the panels on non-stick paper, put the crystals in place and attach with the hot fix wand. If you do not have one, you can use an iron, but make sure you cover the crystals with non-stick paper before applying the iron.
Step Two: Press all parts with steam and sew them together with invisible thread. Read instructions on how to do this in our Guide to Assembling a Freestanding Bowl.
If you wish to add a 3D effect to your bowl, embroider 5 butterflies. Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer and one layer of organza; use the same thread for both the needle and bobbin to get 2-sided embroidery.
Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry.
Embelish with the hot fix crystals and attach to the panels before you assemble the bowl. You can use either glue or machine stitch the butterflies into place.
To make this doily, you'll have to embroider seven doily panels and the polygon as the center. The doily panel is in the top row on the right of the picture. The doily polygon is right under the panel, in the second row.
Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer and one layer of organza. For the doily, you can use black bobbin thread as it doesn't have to be two-sided.
Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry. Press with steam and stitch the parts together using invisible thread.
You can also make a doily using butterflies and fabric. The same method can be used to decorate the border of a tablecloth, table-runner or napkin.
Embroider some free standing butterflies, arrange them on a piece of fabric, preferably linen, and attach with pins.
Now zigzag the inner outline of the butterflies into place. Cut away the excess fabric.
The part in the third row on the left is a coaster. You'll need the same stabilizer as you used for the doily and bowl and a layer of organza to make this coaster.
