Embroidery Contest 2009

Entry # 47

This contestant wrote about her entry:

"The Lighthouse was embroidered on a thicker-than-linen but linen-like white fabric. Then, pace blue and white braid was placed and sewn around the lighthouse. A brilliant blue batik rayon strip was sewn next to the braid; a narrowerer piece of red dotted cotton fabric was sewn; a darker blue strip of rayon was sewn in, and a piece of braid was placed beside it. Then, I continued with the brilliant blue batik. The red dotted cotton fabric was used to border and to act as the sides of the purse. Along that red side and bottom strip, I stitched a wave-like design that I thought resembled the ocean's wave action. The strap uses the brilliant blue. The bottom border of the purse has a has some fringe with beads hanging down. Between the purse exterior and the lining is batting. The lining is a pale blue and white fabric that resembles toile except that the designs are of shells. Inside the purse, there are pockets of blue with red trim. Velcro is used for the purse closure."
